How to Measure your Feet
So how narrow is narrow? And how will you know the difference between a ‘narrow’ fitting slipper and a ‘medium’ size, especially if you want to buy your slippers online?
Our feet are anatomically unique, in the same way no two people have the same fingerprints. With 80% of our shopping being done online today, it’s important to know your foot size. Knowing your size also helps you ask the right questions from the store before you place your order. Here are some tips to help you know your foot size and fit your feet.
- The best time to measure your feet is in the evening, to be sure that your feet are not swollen after long hours sitting, or affected by other things like heat, etc.
- You will need to measure your longer foot; if you don’t know which foot is longer, then measure both of your feet.
- If you aren’t steady enough to do it, ask someone to help you with this activity.
- Make sure that your entire foot is flat on the paper before tracing the outline.
- Stand on a piece of paper and mark the heel and longest toe with a vertical pen. This measure gives you the length of your foot.
- Use a ruler to determine the length in cm. Most tables of foot measurements will have the units of foot length translated into all standard shoe sizes.
- To determine the Width of your foot, you will need to measure the widest part of your foot, from side-to-side. To get this measure, you will need to draw an outline of your feet once again.
- Take the outermost point at the ball of your foot, beneath your big toe; mark this outermost point on the paper.
- Lift your foot off the paper. Draw a straight horizontal line across your foot, from the ball to a point just below your small toe joint. This represents the widest part of your foot.
- Use a ruler to determine this length in cm and write it down.
